Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order a cake?

There are many factors that go into the creation of a custom cake. The most efficient way to begin discussing your event is to e-mail us. The first thing we need to know is the date of your event so that we can check if it is still available. Please provide the following information and we will contact you as soon as possible:

Date of Event
Event Theme/Occasion (bridal shower, wedding, birthday, baby shower etc.)
Cake Flavor & Filling Choice Ideas,
Colours, and/or Description
Number of Guests
Your Budget
Telephone Number
Email Address
Delivery Time & Location

How far in advance should I order my cake?

Please go to our Pricing page to book a cake consult or our wedding or special occasion cake package. We can only accommodate a limited number of cakes each week so this is a good way to ensure we are free on the date you have in mind.

Do you have a shop I can come and visit?

We are available for cake design consultations and tastings by appointment only. We do not have a retail shop or any pre-made cakes for sale.

Do you require an initial payment for cake orders?

Yes. We require a non-refundable initial payment of 50% of the estimated cake order in order to hold your date. Our orders are taken on a first come, first serve basis. If an order is cancelled at the last minute we are unable to replace that business. For this reason your initial payment will not be returned if an order is cancelled. Wedding cakes must be paid in full one month before the date of delivery, unless otherwise arranged.

If your wedding date has to change due to Covid, I will do everything I can to make the new date. However if we can no longer do the booking I will return the deposit.

Can I taste the cakes?

If you place an order I will send you a tasting selection box free of charge. This contains four different sponge types. You can then decide which sponge flavour you would like.

Allergies and special dietary needs

Allergies, intolerance and special diets are an important consideration when ordering your cake. Rockabilly bakery  Cakes contain Eggs, Butter, Flour, Gluten, Wheat and Dairy, Carrot cake and walnut cakes contain Nuts.

Gluten and wheat free cakes made upon request. It is extremely important that you make us aware of any dietary issues that may affect how we make your cake, if after you have ordered your cake you discover an allergy issue please contact us as soon as possible so we can update your order.

Rockabilly bakery accepts no liability for customers suffering allergic reactions from eating our cakes therefore it is the customers responsibility to make Rockabilly bakery aware of any special dietary needs.

Delivery and setup

We strongly recommend that we deliver and setup any wedding orders, stacked cakes can be very heavy and fragile. Wedding cakes should be transported and handled correctly to avoid any damage. Heavenleigh Cakes will ensure your cake is delivered on the morning of your wedding. Delivery and setup of wedding cakes within a 10 mile radius of Basildon is free, charges for deliveries outside of this will incur a charge based on the distance of the venue. Celebration cakes should be collected with exception of special orders where the cake will need to be setup at the venue by Heavenleigh Cakes.

How soon before my wedding will my cake be baked?

I bake sponge cakes a maximum of two days before your wedding. I don’t use any preservatives so your cake will be at its most delicious on your actual  wedding day.

How long does your cake stay fresh for?

A fondant covered cake will last up to 7 days after delivery. A buttercream covered cake will last 4 days if kept in an airtight container.

Are you able to customise and design a cake just for me, or am I restricted to certain designs?

I absolutely love to make a design just for you. Typically I base this off a picture you provide or a cake from my existing gallery.

Can you work with me to come up with some design ideas based on my theme and budget?

Yes there is set pricing on my website but I’m happy to come up with a simpler or smaller design to suit your budget.
